About the Artist
My name is Emily Fisher and I am a full time artist — self-taught, and having a blast exploring the world of clay!
I took my first pottery class three years ago and immediately fell in love. Six months later I had a wheel. A kiln, not long after that. Now I make pottery full time out of my home studio in Kuna, Idaho, and I feel genuinely honored to spend my days this way.
Outside the studio I'm with my people — usually my fiancée and our pack of two cats and three cow dogs. I love cooking, gardening, rockhounding, and experimenting with new art styles and techniques whenever I have the time.
I grew up with a deep respect for the natural world, and that feeling has only gotten stronger with age. There is so much happening in the plants, animals, and ecosystems around us every single day — and I have found that my life is genuinely better just from learning to notice it.
I believe good art works the same way. When my fiancée and I started replacing our dishware with my own pottery, something shifted. Meals became a little more special. We developed opinions about mug handles. We had a favorite plate, bowls that fit perfectly in our hands... I hadn't realized how much the mass-produced dishware was just background, while the handmade pieces brought something of their own.
Now our table is mismatched and full of character — different shapes for different moods, unique designs that we want to notice. Our morning coffee feels like a private ritual, and weeknight dinner can feel like a special occasion.
That is the experience I want to create through my work — pieces that enrich our experience of everyday life.
